Joe Berry Award

We’re proud to be the exclusive talent profile partner of the Joe Berry Award, Australia’s premier program recognising and developing emerging sales leaders.
Joe Berry Award Ceremony 2026

The Joe Berry Award is one of Australia and New Zealand’s most prestigious recognitions for emerging leaders under the age of 35 across the retail and FMCG sectors. Since 1986, it has celebrated innovation, forward-thinking, and leadership - creating a launchpad for the industry’s brightest talent.

Finalists take part in a rigorous process, from essay submissions on industry-relevant topics through to presenting to a senior judging panel. The winner is announced at a high-profile event and goes on to receive incredible professional development opportunities including CEO mentorships, international conferences, and industry-wide recognition.

More than just an award, Joe Berry has become a career-defining experience that continues long after the presentation stage.

Our Partnership

Six Degrees Executive has been a proud partner of the Joe Berry Award since 2019. Our work in recruitment across FMCG and retail naturally connects us to contributing to the future leaders this award champions.

This is why we developed the Career Development Series, an initiative we host exclusively for Joe Berry finalists.

This series brings together finalists and senior industry leaders in highly interactive workshops held in both Melbourne and Sydney. Each session focuses on various topics such as career planning, leadership, and building the tools to thrive in the industry.

It’s an opportunity for finalists to stay connected beyond the award itself, strengthen peer networks, and learn directly from some of the most respected leaders in FMCG and retail.

Career Development Series

By combining the legacy of the Joe Berry Award with Six Degrees Executive’s network of industry leaders, the program opens doors for finalists not only across Australia and New Zealand but also nationally into the UK.

The impact we strive for by connecting future leaders with strategically picked facilitators:

  • Ongoing leadership development and mentoring.

  • Access to senior executives and decision-makers.

  • Long-term peer connections that continue to grow with each career milestone.

For the industry, the program builds a visible pipeline of future leaders — helping to raise professional standards and foster cross-sector collaboration that benefits the whole retail and FMCG community.

Each series is a chance for finalists to sit in the same room as senior FMCG leaders, ask direct questions, and take part in highly practical discussions that leave a lasting impact.

The Impact on FMCGs Future Leaders

The Joe Berry Career Development Series is only possible because of the senior leaders who step forward as facilitators.

The Joe Berry Award as more than a competition, it’s a broader program that creates space for learning, connection, and personal growth. The Career Development Series is a great example of the quality of conversations and opportunities it unlocks for young executives, helping build a mindset of seeking perspective and learning from others’ experiences. Having benefited from similar in my own early career, it’s incredibly rewarding to pay it forward. It leaves you with real confidence in the future leadership of our industry.

The best thing experienced leaders can do is not only share highlights, but also what they have learned along the way. Share the choices made and the why behind them, the good, bad, and interesting. Experienced leaders can move hindsight into foresight for the next generation.  What a gift!
